I was stationed at pinder from 1979to1982 with A battery 1/22 fa.We lived in graf seemed like 6 months out of the year putting steel down range,All the fun rail head rides to Vilseck staging area. All the kids coming up to the train,we'd trade unit crest for beer,or ask them if they had an older sister.I loved white bag country shooting, the direct fire range.I was a gunner with the 2nd howitzer section. This site brings back so many memories,it's just like yesterday, staggering back from Elies bar crawling through the many holes in the fence.Anyone remember the Ponderosa club? country western joint.I coudn't stay out of fights there.I'de allways hook up with a German girl with a jealous soccer type boy friend, but I handled my own.Gun Dogs,Red Legs,Gun Bunnies, what ever you titled us we were a tough breed.Hell look at the shit and missery we went through out in the field.I could go on and on with all the shit me and my buddies did.Miss the beer tent and the carnival coming on post during German American week,WOW!!!!!!Want to say Hi, to Steven Smith,Gabe Labrada,Maspo from Maine{damn good arm wrestler},SSG Boyd and so many others I'm bad with names but will never forget the rest of you.I still walk those cobble stone streets in my dreams, went to nuremburg many times, wont mention the WALL,If anyone remembers me SGT Bower.

My ex-husband (Michael Dunn) was stationed at Pinder Barracks from 74-75. I arrived a month or two after him and we got married there in a civil ceremony at the police station in Zirndorf. We stayed until November, 1975. I got a job as a secretary at Merrell Barracks. My boss was Capt. Franks aka General Tommy Franks. We lived a train ride from Zirndorf in a little town. Memories!!!

My father M/sgt. Ray E. Hunigan was stationd at Pinder Barracks Zirndorf Germany. We were stationed in Nurnberg, Furth and Zirndorf. I was 11 years old and would walk from our house near Alta Vista Restuant to play pool at the service club in 1953. Dad would visit Howenstines (guess that is the way you spell it) at the Round House for a beer every now and then. I don't know if it is still in existence.

I'm a proud Army Brat! My father, CSM Richard D. Branch was stationed at Pinder Barracks from 73-76. Daddy passed in 89 and is buried a few graves down at Ft Bragg from another Pinder Barracks friend and co-worker, CSM Haywood Pugh who passed a few months after my father. I was 13 years old when we left furth headed for Ft Sill and didn't pay as much attention as I now wish I had. I can't tell you all how much this site and your photos mean to our family! My 15 year old son is very into the military and history. I wish his Grandpa were here to tell all the stories and some of the things he was involved in.

Was at Pinder from Oct 90 to Sep 91. Assigned to SVC 2/1. Roomed with Sam Hartwig from Arkansas. Went to Desert Storm and was reassigned to Fort Carson, Colorado when heavy "disbanding" was happening. Remember the Zirndorfer's and the best food ever. Found the old bomb shelter behind the barracks. (dug out entrance) Trying to get to the lower levels for the fabled secret passages was fun also. Volksmarches just about every weekend exploring the countryside. (The free mugs/glasses after the walks still decorate my kitchen) Got tatoo at Eddies in Nurnberg. (color still bright) So many memories not enough space. I recall this website being started some 10-12 years ago and it is great to see the overwhelming response to a part of all of our lives we will certainly not forget and that we are proud of. Hope to get back to the beautiful countryside with my family some day. Hope all of you certainly have found everything that you have ever wanted in life.
